Course Description:

As psychedelics become more available, many psychologists and mental health professionals are wondering what impact this will have on the field. This workshop will provide an overview of current research and applications of psychedelics and mental health. We will also discuss current legal status in California, recent veto of SB58 and implications. Questions around new developments and potentials will be addressed, within a historical context of indigenous science and uses. This will be offered in the context of current theories used in the specialty of psychedelics, including Internal Family Systems and Rogerian therapies.

Bio

Celisa Flores, Psy.D. has worked as a therapist, program director, harm reductionist and clinical outreach professional in a wide variety of mental health and substance use disorder treatment setting since obtaining a Master’s in 2007 from CSU Fresno and Doctorate in 2013 in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Irvine. She is now the director of clinical outreach at Lido Wellness Center, a trauma-focused mental health treatment program in Newport Beach. Additional training as a trauma-sensitive yoga and meditation facilitator, as well as birth and end-of-life doula, she has been able to draw from a variety of modalities to support self-empowerment and recovery. She has also completed the MAPS Training in MDMA Assisted-therapy. Her role has included national and international training and speaking engagements on psychedelic healing, eating disorders, mindfulness, yoga, body acceptance, and professional wellness, as well as facilitating psychedelic integration groups with PsychedeLiA in Orange County, CA and online.
